PROTEUS Technologies Expands
its Mentor-Protégé Program

Annapolis Junction, Maryland, March 6, 2008 – Today, PROTEUS Technologies announced that it is extending its Mentor Protégé program to include guest lecturers and special interest groups (SIGs).  The Mentor Protégé program has been a big success over the years at PROTEUS, providing employees with technical presentations, roundtables and access to a comprehensive technical library, in addition to providing one on one coaching and mentoring for engineering staff.

“PROTEUS has long used its Mentor Protégé program to disseminate information within the company,” said PROTEUS’ CEO, Teresa Taylor. “This new structure will deepen this communication and will allow us to better share this with our peers. We look forward to sharing what leaders in the fields we work in have to say about the state of the art.”

In addition to guest lecturers, the Mentor Protégé program will now support SIGs that bring together employees from across the company with shared technical interests. SIGs will also make presentations about advancements in their fields and will submit papers for technical journals.

Mr. Philip Feldman and Mr. Ray Lischner will co-direct the program, providing oversight for the expanded Mentor Protégé Program, a program started and grown by Mr. Jim Birchfield over the last several years.  Their mission is to build on the success of the program and increase the opportunities for collaboration and education within the PROTEUS team.  Mr. Lischner is a seasoned software engineer whose career spans more than two decades in both the DoD and commercial arenas.  He is an author, renowned for writing O'Reily's C++ in a Nutshell, C++ Reference Guide, Delphi in a Nutshell, and Shakespeare for Dummies, among others.  He holds a B.S. degree from the California Institute of Technology, and an M.S. in computer science from Oregon State University. He is a member of ACM and a senior member of IEEE.  Mr. Feldman is a pioneer in the software engineering field, and is an expert in graphics and simulation and virtual reality fitness.  He has worked in diverse arenas such as movie cinematography (including The Terminator (T2)), holds numerous patents, and was the CTO of PowerGrid Technologies.  Most recently, he has been developing high-performance user interfaces using Flex, Java, and OpenGL.  He holds an M.S. degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Johns Hopkins University, and a B.A. in Cinematography, Animation and Multimedia from the University of Maryland.
