Mandy S. Pet named as Director to spearhead multilingual processing & language services
ANNAPOLIS JUNCTION , MD, February 25, 2008 - PROTEUS Technologies, a leader in providing innovative software and systems engineering solutions, primarily for the Intelligence Community, Government Health Services, and Commercial Industries, announced today that Mandy S. Pet has joined PROTEUS as their new Director of Knowledge & Language Solutions. In this capacity, Ms. Pet will be responsible for building upon PROTEUS’ intellectual capital in human language and knowledge management technologies, multilingual database, application, and collaboration efforts. Passionate about supporting Government initiatives in creating actionable intelligence from vast amounts of multilingual data, Ms. Pet will focus on strategic vision and planning for furthering the development of advanced tools and techniques in this arena.

With over 28 years of progressively challenging positions in the intelligence community, Ms. Pet is poised and ready to take the reins for PROTEUS to lead product development and delivery, and IR&D initiatives in multilingual processing, internationalization (I18N) and human language technology (HLT). She previously held senior positions with MITRE, Oracle Consulting and Trados Corporation, where she held senior level positions, and her responsibilities encompassed running a multimillion dollar business sector, and providing technical vision and oversight in the areas of language technology, database design and implementation, data warehousing and advanced research in information extraction for less commonly taught languages (LCTL), and internationalized multilingual processing solutions.
Ms. Pet was awarded a U.S. patent for her innovative approach to multilingual language retrieval and storage mechanism. Currently, she serves as an official U.S. delegate to the ISO Technical Subcommittee (TC) 37, Working Group 4, Language Resource Management and is a contributing author of draft standard ISO 26413, Lexical Markup Framework. She also served on the editorial board and is a contributing writer to Multilingual Communications and Technology Magazine.
Ms. Pet holds B.S. in Computer and Information Science with a minor in Technology Management from the University of Maryland, University College (UMUC) in 1987 and an M.S. in Computer Systems Management and Database Technologies in May 2008.
