“Nothing makes a soldier smile like a package from home”…Treats for Troops website
Columbia, MD – July 30, 2006 — PROTEUS Technologies, LLC recognizes and supports employee leadership and contributions to the “Treats for Troops” program, which provides much needed goodies from home to our troops stationed overseas. Wayne Wheeles, a senior software engineer with PROTEUS, led the recent 4th of July campaign, raising over $7,000 to provide over 125 soldiers with a package from home. This is the second time that Wayne has donated his time and energy to let our service men and women know that we care. In November and December of 2005, Wayne hosted a drive that resulted in almost $5,000 in donations, providing 5-pound Christmas packages for 81 service members serving overseas. Wayne was in the Army for six years. “I remember how lonely it can be serving overseas. I remember holidays and birthdays where I received nothing, and that has always stuck with me,” he said, when asked why he wanted to do something to support our troops. The success of each drive and the grateful letters from the soldiers has been inspirational to Wayne, who says, “As long as there is one service member serving the greatest country in the world outside our borders, I will be there to support them.”
PROTEUS is proud to provide corporate support for Wayne’s campaign. In addition to the individual contributions of many employees, PROTEUS’ CEO Teresa Taylor, and Executive Vice President, Chuck Taylor, wanted to get the campaign off to a great start. Their generous support provided 30 5-pound packages for service members to enjoy and share. PROTEUS’ CEO, Teresa Taylor says, “We are honored to be able to work with such a big-hearted and high-energy employee. This is a fantastic endeavor and PROTEUS would definitely like to participate.”
