Stuffed Stockings bring Holiday Cheer to Task Force T-141
Columbia, MD -- October 28, 2004 — When PROTEUS employee Ann Platoff received a request for 326 Christmas stockings filled with holiday goodies for the U.S. Army's HHC 1-41 Infantry BN near Sadr City, Iraq, she offered her colleagues the opportunity to participate by providing a personal note or a small package for inclusion. Within days of the request, she found herself planning and executing an entire mission, "OPERATION TROOP STOCKING STUFFER."
"The objective of 'OPERATION TROOP STOCKING STUFFER' is to bring a little Holiday Cheer to our Troops in Iraq," stated Ms. Platoff, a Senior Software Engineer for PROTEUS Technologies. The stockings are destined for Ms. Platoff's son, 1st Lt. Timothy Platoff, and the soldiers in his Company. 1st Lt. Platoff is currently deployed in one of the "hot spots" outside Baghdad, where they've suffered several casualties recently at the hands of local militant insurgents. "The soldiers are grateful for encouraging messages and gifts from home," claims Ms. Platoff. "The little amenities we take for granted here state-side are welcomed luxuries in Iraq. It's hard to imagine that everyday items like cookies, trail mix, and disposable razors could provide a merrier Christmas for a soldier overseas," claims Ms. Platoff. A typical stocking will be filled with such items as phone cards, cookies, playing cards, baby wipes and trail mix. "I look forward to coordinating and supervising the assembly line of eager volunteers, ready to fill stockings with donations from my fellow employees and business associates!" The stockings will be shipped from the U.S. on November 15 and should be loaded on Santa's sleigh in time to arrive in Baghdad by Christmas Eve!
PROTEUS Technologies, LLC has enjoyed considerable growth and good fortune during 2004. "We take great pride in the quality of the products and services we provide to our U.S. Government clients," assured Ms. Donna Levin, PROTEUS. Director of Finance and Contracts. "At the same time, we acknowledge a tremendous debt of gratitude to the thousands of U.S. service men and women worldwide who endure personal hardship and sacrifice to protect our freedom and defend our country and its allies. Our participation in is our way of saying 'THANK YOU' to those who won't be home for the holidays."
